OSHA 10-Hour 

This course is designed for construction workers, journeymen, foremen, job supervisors, and anyone involved in the construction industry. WCP recommends the OSHA 10-Hour as an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers covered by OSHA 29 CFR 1926. (Workers must receive additional training, when required by OSHA standards, on the specific hazards of the job.) Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Course completion Certificate and an OSHA 10-Hour Construction course completion card within 4-6 weeks.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. State the purpose of the OSHA Act and list the functions of OSHA
  2. List the OSHA inspection priorities and describe the inspection process
  3. Describe the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees under the OSHA Act
  4. The basic requirements for proper aisle and passageway maintenance
  5. Guidelines for identification and protection of floor opening
  6. Recognize the four major hazards on a construction site and the steps to be taken to prevent them form occurring
  7. To understand the importance Personal Protective and Lifesaving Equipment and how to use them
  8. To understand the importance of effective egress fire protection program

Course Pre-Requisite: None

Testing: The final exam requires a minimum score of 70 to receive a certificate of completion. The final exam may be taken three times if necessary.

Courses Fall Schedule:

·      September 22 to 24, 2009

·      November 3 to 5, 2009

·      October 6 to 8, 2009

·      November 17 to 19, 2009

·      October 20 to 22, 2009

·      December 8 to 10, 2009

Courses will be held Tuesday to Thursday each week from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The courses are designed to allow construction workers and other working professionals to gain the certification relatively easy by attend classes after work. 

Location of Courses:

Courses classes will be held in Room 111 at the Illinois Institute of Technology Rice Campus Wheaton located at 201 East Loop Road , Wheaton IL 60189.
